The Marketing Director is a critical position for Clarins Japan as it covers a wide scope of responsibilities (see below).
The Director is in charge of all marketing and communication topics in Japan and needs to work closely with e-commerce team, which requires a very good understanding of the Japanese cosmetics market, the strategies and tactics to increase the brand visibility and appeal through the media (traditional and digital), the KOLs and the points of sales.
As Clarins is mostly distributed in Department Stores, this position requires to understand very well the dynamic of the cosmetic floors and the way to create awareness and appeal to customers through design and promotions/events while it requires to understand the alternative distribution channels like e-commerce (direct and retail) and semi self-service stores.
The Marketing Director is also a key ambassador of the Brand within the company and needs to increase the engagement and passion of all the teams regarding the products and solutions of Clarins.
The Marketing Director will be given exposure to the top management team at Clarins HQ in Paris to provide to the global team valuable insights about the Japanese market and Japanese customers.
[Role & Areas of Responsibilities]
Work closely with the local and regional teams to shape the marketing and communication strategy for the Brand in Japan. This includes the creation and management of the PR & communication plan (including media and digital), the Product Marketing plan (product releases and main campaigns, including the detailed 360 definition of promotions for all product lines), the Trade Marketing plan (outposts, stores’ media, retailtainment activities in store), the CRM plan (customers contact plan, loyalty program, cross and up-sell)
Define and manage the budget of the teams under scope: create and document the required investments for the coming year, track the actual spending versus approved budget during the year.
On a day to day basis, drive the teams inside the Marketing Department to achieve the strategy (increase brand awareness, increase customers recruitment and loyalty, protect the brand image and positioning).
Pilot the CRM analysis and competitors/market monitoring to better understand the customers and market evolution and reflect this knowledge into the strategy.
Work closely with the Sales and Training teams to adjust the strategy and tactics to the market trends and changes.
Work closely with the Supply Chain team to create an accurate forecast of products sales.
Market insight and product development support:
Monitor continuously the products and services proposed by competitors to feed the regional and global teams with the key trends.
Provide regular feedback regarding our existing and upcoming products to the regional and Paris teams to maximize the relevancy of our offering to the Japanese customers.
Occasionally support the central product teams if necessary for the development of new products locally (for example compact foundations).
Propose CSR initiatives in line with the department's mission and role, and implement them as a team
