Clarins We Care Day 2023: Caring for children

Our aim has always been “making life more beautiful, passing on a more beautiful planet.” And our priority is to involve our employees – all 8,000 of them! – in our group’s defining purpose. Since its creation in 2020, Clarins We Care Day has done just that, mobilizing all our teams around just one of our commitments to society and to the planet.

Throughout the year, our subsidiaries take part in initiatives to support their local communities. More than a global day of solidarity, Clarins We Care Day invites our teams to associate their actions with those of their colleagues across the world. This year’s theme, for our subsidiaries to honor whenever and however they chose, was “caring for children.”

Taking action for education in the Americas

In the Americas, we are passionate about education and the foundational role it plays in children’s lives. For Clarins We Care Day, we decided to help set students up for success before the start of the school year.

At Clarins USA in New York City, we combined Clarins We Care Day with Kids Day. This joint celebration allowed us to pass on our passion for giving back to the community with our families, modeling what it means to work at a values-oriented company to our own kids . Together, we packed more than 100 backpacks full of school supplies for children in high-needs New York City neighborhoods, which were donated via Children’s Aid NYC.

Meanwhile, Clarins Export and Travel Retail Americas spent an afternoon with students from the Fundación Educativa Instituto Ecológico Barbacoas, a school in Barú, Colombia known for its sustainability initiatives. We talked with the students about the importance of education and discussed our shared commitment to nurturing both a culture of respect for the environment. Then, it was our turn to learn. We were thrilled to hear from the students about the many planting, recycling, and conservation projects they have in progress.

Acting along our long-standing non-profit partners in Europe

In Europe, Clarins We Care Day presented the perfect opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the many non-profit partners who share our commitment to future generations.

At Clarins Portugal, we volunteered our time with Novo Futuro, a non-profit whose safe and supportive family-style residences house children in need. We visited one of these residences, spending an afternoon with the eight children who call it home. These hours were filled with connection and joyful moments, and we returned with a special “thank you” painting now on display at our Lisbon headquarters.

At Clarins Italy, we took action for Bimbo Tu, an organization that offers a range of services for children being treated in Bologna’s pediatric wards. Our internal sale raised funds for Bimbo Tu’s Pass Project, which provides families who travel from outside the region precious financial and organizational support throughout their children’s medical care journey. In total, our donations provided 120 shopping bags full of food and necessities for the families staying at Bimbo Tu’s short-term housing facility.

At Clarins Switzerland, we collaborated with the non-profit Futur en Herbe to help shape the next generation of environmentally responsible citizens. We hosted a series of workshops at our Geneva headquarters to inspire and educate kids of all ages on sustainable development. It was a successful event, inspiring the young and not-so-young alike!

Finally, we found ways to put our savoir-faire and shared values at the service of children in France.  At Clarins Logistics in Amiens, we harnessed our know-how to prepare and deliver by hand care packages tailored to the needs of children served by two local non-profits, Les Chrysalides & Jules Verne and Regards d’enfants. Clarins Laboratories organized a spectacular “nature adventure,” inviting kids from across France served by several non-profits to an organic farm that shares our respect for the environment and biodiversity. There, the kids took part in treasure hunts, practiced using their five senses through sensory workshops, and more, all in the heart of nature. And in Paris, we created a calendar full of opportunities to get involved with We Care Day, from learning about causes affecting children to volunteering our time with local non-profits. A success included our food drive to bring children battling cancer special snack bags via the charity Princesse Margot.

Focusing on childhood in the Asia-Pacific region

In the APAC region, we used this day of service to get out and active in our local communities.

At Clarins Australia and New Zealand, we volunteered as a part of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation Nurse’s Ball. This elegant event looks to honor nurses and the work they do – supporting young patients and their families through the challenges of childhood illness is no easy job. We packed over 400 gift bags containing an assortment of Clarins products to thank these medical professionals.

Meanwhile, at Clarins Hong Kong, we partnered with our local YMCA to create happy memories for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. We spent the afternoon with around thirty six- to ten-year-olds, organizing a “bakery day” that encouraged each child to explore their interests and showcase their creativity.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this summer of caring to serve children, our future. Here’s to building our collective impact to make life more beautiful!
