B Corp Series: Putting nature and innovation at the heart of beauty

As part of our ongoing series marking one year of B Corp certification, we continue to spotlight the five pillars that shape our journey - Governance, Employees, Community, Environment, and Customers.

This episode turns to Environment, featuring Sandrine Milesi, who shares how our long-standing connection with plants continues to inspire innovation while driving our commitment to protecting and regenerating nature.

Nature at the heart of our innovation

For over 70 years, plants have been at the heart of Clarins. Our relationship with nature goes beyond using botanical ingredients: it is about understanding plants, respecting their ecosystems and finding ways to preserve them for the future.

For Sandrine and her teams, this means combining scientific expertise with a deep understanding of nature to develop effective and responsible ingredients for our products.

From responsible sourcing to regenerative agriculture

Our commitment to the environment starts with the way we source and grow our plants.

Today, 80% of the plants used in our formulas are organically sourced. As a member of the Union for Ethical BioTrade, we also work to ensure that our sourcing practices respect biodiversity and support the communities involved in producing our ingredients.

But protecting nature is no longer enough. We want to contribute to its regeneration.

This is why regenerative agriculture has become an important part of our approach. By working with nature rather than against it, regenerative practices can help restore soil health, strengthen ecosystems and support biodiversity.

Our Domaines: bringing our philosophy to life

Our Domaines Clarins are a concrete expression of this commitment.

We opened our first Domaine in the French Alps in 2016, creating a unique place where we can grow and study plants while respecting the natural environment. In 2024, we opened a second Domaine in Sainte-Colombe, allowing us to expand this approach even further.

These Domaines embody our belief that exceptional ingredients can be grown in harmony with nature.

And our ambition continues: by 2030, 30% of our plants will be grown in our Domaines using regenerative agriculture methods.

Science and nature, working together

For Sandrine, innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. By combining scientific research, plant expertise and responsible agricultural practices, we can continue to create high-performance beauty products while caring for the natural world that makes them possible.

This is what the B Corp Environment pillar represents for us: turning our commitment to nature into concrete action and creating positive impact for the long term.
