Senior Payroll Officer (Part-Time – 3 Days/Week)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Senior Payroll Officer to oversee payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand. In this part-time role (3 days per week), you will manage the end-to-end payroll function in partnership with our outsourced provider (Micropay) and act as the primary point of contact for all payroll queries.
You will also own and maintain our time & attendance system (Humanforce), support compliance with the General Retail Award, and ensure all statutory obligations are met. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving, and continuous improvement in a supportive HR team.
What You’ll Do
Oversee outsourced payroll processing and ensure accurate, timely pay runs
Maintain and authorise timesheets via Humanforce; provide support and training
Act as the first point of contact for payroll inquiries across the business
Ensure compliance with awards, enterprise agreements, and employment legislation
Manage payroll tax, group tax, superannuation, Kiwisaver, workers compensation, and work cover requirements
Process workers compensation claims
Prepare monthly payroll reports and provide data for budgets and projects
Work closely with HR to ensure alignment with policies and procedures
Support system upgrades, integrations, and payroll improvement initiatives
Coordinate the Employee Product Allowance program
About You
You’ll be successful in this role if you bring:
5+ years of payroll experience, ideally across Australia and New Zealand
Experience with Micropay Meridian and Humanforce/TimeTarget (advantageous)
Strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards, superannuation, and compliance
Excellent communication, customer service, and stakeholder engagement skills
High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving abilities
Ability to prioritise and manage strict deadlines
Intermediate MS Office skills
A reliable, flexible, discreet, and team-oriented approach
