Inspired by the science of epigenetics¹, Clarins goes even further in understanding its impact on the skin. Thanks to an unprecedented exclusive clinical study carried out on more than 60 homozygous twins with the same genetic make-up, Clarins Research was able to carry out a complete mapping of the effects of epigenetics by comparing the signs of ageing between these twins. A major discovery: Epi-Ageing

Clarins Research has identified the biological causes of epigenetic ageing, which it has named Epi-Ageing. It shows that an unbalanced lifestyle increases the phenomenon of gene methylation by 44%*, which is known to inhibit certain genes, including 4 key genes for skin youthfulness. Wrinkles, loss of firmness, dry skin, more visible pores, loss of radiance and uneven skin tone appear prematurely, and skin ageing accelerates.
