Financial Controlling Director Travel Retail

Act as a business partner to all Travel Retail Europe stakeholders (considered as “Internal Consumer”) by providing accurate information, reports and analysis, recommendations and guidance.


You will play a key business partner role to ensure the optimal management of resources.


The position will work closely with the Divisional GM’s, Brand Directors and Area Sales Directors to ascertain the necessary reporting and analysis requirements required to manage the business.


Drive the Finance function to perfection across multiple aspects by constantly adapting processes to the evolving environment and requirements, innovating and keeping in view all the latest market innovation and trends in regards of the Finance function.

The TR Financial Controller is responsible for the company's long-term financial health and growth. They establish strategies that will earn profits, oversee accounting operations, produce accurate reports on where money is going within the business and improve or change current practices to increase efficiency. He is also an all-rounded business partner, at the heart of the organization, enabling TR departments to rigorously focus on adding value to their respective domains of expertise, facilitating sound business decision making.


Business Partner

  • Provide guidance, analysis and insights to drive informed decisions in order to reach their financial goals and ensure the long-term stability and profitability of the business.
  • Improve performance by evaluating as well as putting into place processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI.
  • Ensuring a proper financial monitoring of the business by developing dashboards and KPIs, analyzing the financial performance of the company and explaining the gaps vs. budget and latest estimate.
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction
  • Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines

Budgets, Planning and Closing

  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks.
  • Process owner of the budget cycle (Budget N+1 and bi-annual revisions) as well as for the year-long reporting (actuals) to provide the TRGM and all stakeholders with a proper objective framework and instant performance picture.
  • Provide timely and relevant management reports with the necessary commentary to enable management or other users to understand the content.
  • Ensure accurate and on-time reporting for the budget and monthly closing

Reporting and Business Performance Monitoring

  • Constantly reviews business operations and financial processes, identifies needs to support stakeholders and focuses on strengthening financial intelligence to serve business growth.
  • Rigorously aims at improving work productivity and reporting efficiency.
  • Deliver reports electronically with interrogation tools
  • Provide more value-added commentary
  • Aims at maintaining communication dynamics among stakeholders, finds the right measures and reporting format for the business.
  • Organizes regular overall financial review (involving all stakeholders) or punctually targeted audience meetings (specific launch, P&L line focus, geographic zone…) always aiming at empowering collective ownership and management decision-making.
  • Prepare monthly Management Accounts to the Executive Team and monitor expenses per departments
  • Provide analysis and insights including deviations to expectation, identify risks and propose corrective actions
  • Provide / Analyze P&L per Operators and monitor their contribution
  • Productive Cost Monitoring
  • Analyzing cost and productivity of the 180 beauty advisors
  • Managing Proper resource allocation
  • Itemized, BNP Reporting, PMF, COG + ad-hoc relevant BIA reports, Cube possible extractions
  • Cash flow management with CAPEX and DSO focus
  • Overhead Cost control management
  • Pricing and Terms and Conditions system custody


Commercial conditions Monitoring

  • Maintain a centrally available database of the contractual Commercial conditions for all clients
  • Monitor performance of margin and spend against the agreed Commercial conditions
  • Support the team in making the right decisions if changes of commercial conditions and monitoring versus P&L.

    Business Controlling Support within CGI

  • Provide support along with Regional teams on the Finance annual Audit; all audit and internal control operations
  • Co lead the shared cost allocations: Budget & actual monthly
  • Provide support on any other missions linked to the closure of accounts, reporting Group in HFM and assuring the business continuity of CGI
  • Balance Sheet and Cash

  • Contribute actively to the overall cash optimization (e.g. DSO, DPO optimization)
  • Drive the accounting team for the Balance Sheet and Cash Budget
  • Help accounting team to control any slippage in cash and Balance sheet
  • Support the Credit Management for credit limit calculation
  • Support the Credit Management to recover funds


      Reboot Follow-up

  • Stream leader on the Purchase to Pay process
  • Help to conduct the change
  • Support Controlling & pricing team for any decision
  • Any other ad hoc analysis to support the business including
  • Develop a close and trusted relationship with the Heads of Departments
  • Assess and challenge projects assumptions
  • Calculate ROI of significant investments projects (according to internal threshold)
  • Ad hoc analyses and modeling
  • Capex evaluation
  • Look to continuously improve process and system
  • Circulate tooling, methodologies across structures and exchange with Regional and Global counterparts for best practices inspiration.
  • Support annual audit and tax for matters in Travel Retail
  • Education/Degree:
  • Master in Corporate Finance
  • Background including total years of experience
  • Minimum 5 years working relevant working experience in Financial Controlling or financial planning & analysis
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Technical skills:
  • Advanced in Excel and Microsoft office.
  • Workday, HFM, Cognos (BI), experience is a plus
  • Languages:
  • Fluent in French and English, excellent communication, and collaboration skills
